Work Experience

TAXPAYERS: If a person is receiving “welfare” (cash from the working taxpayer) they must work to receive this cash. We have kept nearly 100 people off welfare. IN OTHER WORDS, they no longer get your hard earned money. They are now off welfare and in many instances they have become taxpayers too!

The Work Experience Program (WEP) is a component of the Ohio Works First (OWF) initiative of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Helping OWF recipients become employed and self-sufficient occurs through the Work Experience Program by linking these individual recipients with local businesses in need of labor resources.

In our 7th year of partnering with the Ashland County Department of Job and Family Services we have placed nearly 150 people into full-time jobs. Certainly it is important to find jobs for the unemployed and the dependent, we deem it even more important, to help keep them employed. This philosophy has helped us to keep 60% of all those gaining employment through this WEP program OFF the tax payers dime.

The ultimate goal of the WEP program as offered through the Transformation Network is for the OWF recipient to gain full-time employment either by the business who has utilized their services through the WEP program or by their individual job search efforts which have been improved upon by resources made through the Transformation Network.
